Ms. Foundation on Continued Violence Toward AAPI Community

NEW YORK (March 17, 2021) – Ms. Foundation for Women President and CEO Teresa C. Younger released the following statement in response to the violence toward the AAPI Community:

“The Ms. Foundation for Women stands in solidarity with the AAPI community following the recent weeks of increased violence, including last night’s horrendous attack in Atlanta in which six Asian women were murdered at the hands of a white man.

We strongly condemn the inherently racist and misogynistic violence against AAPI women that has been fueled by white supremacy and systemic racism. This violence is a growing crisis of domestic terrorism that transcends race, gender, and class, and must be strongly addressed by our leaders.

We are grieving last night’s atrocious act along with our grantee-partners, including AAPI Women Lead,  NAPAWF, Adhikaar, Mekong NYC, and California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative, and remain committed to supporting women-led movements and organizations that are working to protect AAPI women across the country. The Ms. Foundation for Women will continue to fight until all individuals are safe and equal.”

Ms. Foundation spokespeople are available for interviews by phone or video from NYC. To schedule, please contact Sunshine Sachs at [email protected].
