Ms. Foundation on Latina Equal Pay Day

NEW YORK (November 20, 2019) – Ms. Foundation for Women President and CEO Teresa C. Younger released the following statement on Latina Equal Pay Day:

“A full 324 days into the year, we recognize Latina Equal Pay Day. Latina women have had to work for nearly an entire extra year in order to earn as much as their white, non-Hispanic male counterparts earned in 2018 alone. The adage that some women have to work twice as hard for half as much is not just an expression for Latina women, it is their lived truth.

“Latina women are among the fastest-growing demographic in the United States and provide countless contributions to our economy and communities each day. It is shameful that our Latina sisters are devalued in this society by preexisting racist and sexist systems. It is time to recognize the full equality of Latina women and compensate them fairly.

“The Ms. Foundation and our grantee partners are committed to achieving economic justice, and will continue to fight until Latina women receive the pay that they’ve earned and deserve.”
