Ms. Foundation for Women Announces Three New Board Members
Jenny Carrillo, Judi Rosenthal, and James White Join Distinguished Board of the Nation’s Oldest Women’s Foundation
NEW YORK (July 21, 2022) – Today, the Ms. Foundation for Women announced Jenny Carrillo, Judi Rosenthal, and James White as new members of its distinguished Board of Directors. These additions bring expertise in finance, global health, diversity and equity.
“We are delighted to welcome three incredible new members to our board this year as our mission to build women’s collective power takes on a greater magnitude in the wake of increasing threats towards women and democracy,” said Teresa C. Younger, President, and CEO of the Ms. Foundation for Women. “We’re looking forward to the knowledge, leadership, and ambition these additions will bring to our fight for gender and racial equity.”
The Ms. Foundation is also pleased to announce the following officer transitions: Jenna Skinner Scanlan will serve as Chair and Yin Ling Leung as Vice Chair. Diane Manuel will serve as Treasurer and Pamela Shifman as Secretary.
Jenny Carrillo | Board Member
Jenny Carrillo, PhD, is inspired by innovative technologies that improve global health and works in healthcare technology to achieve health equity by removing barriers that contribute to health disparities. Dr. Carrillo serves as Chief Sales Officer at Vitality Group, a healthcare technology organization, whose mission is to “make people healthier.” She oversees Vitality’s U.S. expansion into partnerships with corporations, health plans, providers, and other ancillary health services. Previously, Dr. Carrillo served as Senior Vice President of External Affairs and Strategy at Planned Parenthood of Southern New England and Vice President of Health Plan Solutions at Amwell, which had a successful IPO. As a strategic partner, she helps healthcare executives execute their digital healthcare strategy, expand access to quality care, and leverage technology to achieve measurable objectives and improved health outcomes. Trained as a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Carrillo has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare, spanning from academia to executive roles in strategy, sales, marketing, external affairs, and cross-functional integration. She has contributed to publications and panels, speaking extensively about achieving health equity, and served on various boards. As a Latina, she has been involved in efforts to amplify the concerns of the Latinx community and mentor Latinx professionals. Dr. Carrillo’s distinctions include an NIH National Research Service Award and Fellow of the Connecticut Health Foundation. She received her Ph.D. from Yale University and was a consultant with McKinsey & Co.
Judi Rosenthal | Board Member
Judi Rosenthal is a Vice President and Financial Advisor in the New York office of Bernstein Private Wealth Management and provides counsel to uniquely successful, high net worth families, as well as their respective trusts, estates and foundations. Prior to joining the firm in 2018, she was the founder and CEO of Rosenthal Design Group, LLC, a financial services consultancy with a focus on the advancement of female advisors and consumers. For the 17 years prior she served as a premier franchise consultant/platinum financial advisor at Ameriprise Financial where she developed consulting platforms providing advisor business development and launched a national network for female financial advisors. Judi holds a BFA in flute performance from the Boston Conservatory of Music. She has appeared on The Today Show, CNBC’s Power Lunch and CNBC’s special live market coverage. She has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Financial Advisor magazine, the New York Daily News and on Today.com. Judi serves on the board of The Feminist Press, an educational nonprofit organization founded to advance women’s rights and amplify feminist perspectives. She is an active supporter of women candidates running for political office through her pro bono consulting for the Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Committee and Emerge America. Judi lives in New York City with her two young children and their very old dachshund.
James White | Board Member
James White has over 25 years’ experience in Human Capital Management at Fortune 100 and 500 financial services firms including Merrill Lynch, Bank of America, and Credit Suisse. Most notably, James was selected as the first Head of Diversity & Inclusion first at OppenheimerFunds and then at Lord Abbett where he was tasked with building cultural competency and credibility in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Currently, James is the principal owner of a private consulting firm where he works as a public speaker, consultant, and coach, specializing in developing best-in-class people strategies that enable employees to thrive.
James has served in a variety of nonprofit executive board roles including President of the Board for Amas Musical Theatre, member of the YWCA Impact Investing Advisory Council, member of the PFLAG Business Advisory Board, Treasurer for All In Together, a women’s civic engagement advocacy organization, and member of the AXS Map Advisory Board, an organization focused on accessibility for the disability community through their proprietary app.
James also works as a nonprofit board consultant where he empowers boards through strategy development, impact frameworks, and governance. James is currently working in a strategic advisory capacity with the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Antigua and Barbuda and the American Songbook Association.
Recently James served as a guest judge in the Association of Junior Leagues International (ALJI) Awards Program recognizing women ALJI leaders across the United States driving sustainable change through innovation and disruption in their communities.
As a guest speaker, James recently participated in a fireside chat at Columbia University where he provided thought leadership on talent sourcing, recruiting, and onboarding through the lens of Human Capital Management and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion best practices. He also served as a guest speaker at the Women’s World Banking event: Engaging Men in Finance to Increase Gender-Diverse Leadership.
Within the theater community, James served as Co-Producer of the musical Goldstein and as Associate Producer of the play Less Than 50%.
In May, the American Songbook Association awarded James the Bill Sensenbrenner Dream Maker Award honoring leaders in the business community who demonstrate a passion for investing in the cultural capital of our youth.
