Ms. Foundation for Women Speaks Out on Final SCOTUS Decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization

NEW YORK (June 24, 2022) – Ms. Foundation for Women President and CEO Teresa C. Younger released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s final decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization:

“The Ms. Foundation for Women is disgusted and outraged by the final decision of the Court on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which has now destroyed over almost fifty years of precedence set by Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. This decision is egregiously wrong and is an assault on reproductive justice, fundamental healthcare, and the bodily autonomy of women, transgender and non-binary people across the country. History will not look kindly on this decision, and now more than ever, it is time for all of us to act.

“Decades of consistent attacks from a minority wishing to hold onto the white supremacy and patriarchy in which our nation was founded, has finally succeeded in stripping women of their fundamental human rights. This decision tells us that no one has the right to privacy or control of their own body, yet state governments do. We cannot stress enough that this decision threatens people’s lives and its consequences will be disastrous.

“Every person has the right to choose if and when to parent. Access to abortion is a fundamental human right, and control over women’s bodies is no one’s but their own. And this is not, and has never been, just a women’s issue. We will never get to full equality if any person does not have full bodily autonomy.

“We have been preparing for this fight and know that this is not over. The Ms. Foundation is proud to support those who are at the forefront of organizing and mobilizing for reproductive justice and we will continue to follow grassroots leadership and build collective power until we achieve freedom for all.”
