Tessanella DeFrisco (she/her) joins Ms. Foundation as office manager. 

What brought you to Ms. Foundation?

My mother has always been a hero of mine. Watching her navigate life as a neurodiverse Mexican woman—and the hardships she has had to fight tooth and nail to overcome—has strongly shaped who I am. Her resilience instilled in me a deep commitment to finding even small ways to make the world a fairer place.

I came to Ms. Foundation somewhat by chance, joining as a temp worker last January, but it quickly became clear how meaningful and impactful the work is. I felt aligned with the mission and eager to contribute more to the incredible work being done. Being brought on full time almost a year later has been such a dream, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of this organization.

What gets you out of bed every morning?

Gratitude for all the incredible people in my life and the joy of being able to contribute to my community.

Who is a badass feminist who inspires you?

Jane Fonda will always be a favorite of mine–she’s always been so fierce in standing up for what’s right.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I would say to trust myself more. I don’t need to worry so much about the challenges ahead, because I can handle them. And when I do need help, I know that I can lean on my support system.
