A New Era: Announcing Tracy Sturdivant as the next President & CEO of Ms. Foundation for Women
by Charline Gipson
It is with great excitement and honor that we announce Tracy Sturdivant as the next President & CEO of Ms. Foundation for Women. Tracy is a dynamic and strategic leader and coalition builder who will guide the Foundation through its next chapter of expanding power and opportunity for women, girls, and gender-expansive people. She brings decades of experience as a social justice leader and communications innovator, with a career spanning movement organizations, philanthropy, and culture-shaping campaigns and partnerships. Tracy is the leader this moment demands. Through her leadership, she will deepen Ms. Foundation’s ability to connect culture, communications, and movement building in service of creating lasting change. After an extensive nationwide search that connected us with passionate and inspiring changemakers across the country, we were deeply impressed by Tracy’s commitment to collaboration, team development, and fostering a caring, values-driven organizational culture. We can’t wait to introduce her to the team and the Ms. Foundation community. Tracy will succeed Teresa C. Younger who, in June, will step down from her role as President & CEO after a remarkable 13-year tenure. Under Teresa’s outstanding leadership, the Foundation has grown in strength and influence—expanding its reach, deepening relationships, and advancing philanthropy rooted in racial and gender equity. As we enter this exciting new chapter, we are profoundly grateful for her vision, dedication, and lasting contributions to the organization’s impact and focus. Teresa’s career stands as a testament to what is possible when philanthropy is guided by values, informed by community, and animated by courage. Her tireless dedication culminated in the successful completion of the Foundation’s capital campaign, Creating the Future We Deserve, which raised over $100 million in honor of Ms. Foundation’s 50th anniversary. Tracy also brings a personal connection to Ms. Foundation’s history. Earlier in her career, she worked alongside Marie C. Wilson at the White House Project while Marie was simultaneously leading Ms. Foundation. This transition is a testament to the strength of the organization. With a strong staff and leadership team, deep movement partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to building women’s collective power in the United States, Ms. Foundation is well-positioned to begin this new era, driven, as always, by a vibrant ecosystem of people and partners dedicated to advancing feminist philanthropy, building collective power, and creating lasting change for women, girls, and gender-expansive people. Join us in celebrating Teresa’s extraordinary legacy, welcoming Tracy and moving into this next chapter of Ms. Foundation together, with the urgency and energy it demands.
