10 Things We’re Grateful For This Year
by Ms. Foundation
As we head into a season of gratitude and look back on our year, we’re taking a chance to reflect on what we’re grateful for. 2024 brought both triumphs and challenges in the fights for gender and racial justice, and we at the Ms. Foundation found joy and power in community, in laughter, in rest, and in struggle. We asked staff from across the Foundation to share what they’re grateful for – here’s what they said: I am so grateful to have such a large family! Although I wish I could see everyone more, I am so grateful for all the moments I had with each loved one this year and the wonderful moments to come! I’m grateful for the radical, deep relationships that I have with very dear friends and family across the world. I’m grateful for movement artists uplifting beauty and struggle together to tend hearts and move souls through all the challenges we face. Right now, I am grateful for every big, bear hug and deep, belly laugh with the people I love the most. I’m thankful for peace, love, and support. I’m very grateful for my health, for my family, for my 12 year old son who keeps me laughing and gives me hope, for the leaves that turn gloriously gold, orange, and red in the fall, and for the beautiful friendships in my life that give me joy and keep me grounded. I’m grateful for my community (far and wide) and for the hope in my daughters’ smiles. After completing my bachelor’s degree this year, I’m deeply grateful for all the support, encouragement, and love I received throughout the journey. I’m also grateful for the moments ahead to continue learning from and growing alongside those nearest and dearest to me. I’m grateful for the beautiful community I’ve built in Brooklyn and beyond, and all the ways they show up for me on my best and worst days. I’m also grateful for the people working tirelessly across the country to keep abortion safe and accessible for everyone. I am grateful that when life seems overwhelming, I have a supportive network of friends who hold me up and walk with me. I am thankful for moments with them that include silence, tears, and laughter — time together that remind me that I am not alone. Community is powerful.
