Ms. Foundation Speaks Out on the Verdict of Harvey Weinstein
NEW YORK (February 24, 2020) – Ms. Foundation for Women President and CEO Teresa C. Younger released the following statement following the announced verdict of Harvey Weinstein:
“Today’s verdict concludes a trial in which dozens of survivors across the country spoke up about the abuses they faced at the hands of Harvey Weinstein and demanded justice.
“Regardless of today’s verdict, there is more to being a survivor than validation through the court system. Telling your story and being heard and believed begins the process of ending sexual abuse by changing the systemic and cultural structures that allow people in positions of power to treat others without dignity, respect, or bodily autonomy.
“To the women who have bravely come forward to bring justice to Harvey Weinstein, please know that many people around the country and across the world have heard you, believe in you, and have been lifted up by your voice.
“The Ms. Foundation for Women and our grantee-partners proudly stand by all survivors of sexual violence and harrassment, and will continue in the fight towards justice.”
