CAMONGHNE FELIX is a writer, speaker and political communications strategist. Prior to joining Ms. Foundation, Camonghne was Strategist at BerlinRosen Public Affairs where she designed and led full communications and branding strategies for progressive clients and campaigns working across a range of issues including racial justice, gender equity, criminal justice, homelessness, and education.
In 2015, Camonghne was appointed Speechwriter to Governor Andrew Cuomo, making her the first African-American female speechwriter to serve a New York State governor.
In addition to her work as a communications strategist, Camonghne is a poet and author who has been published in various outlets, including Poetry Magazine, Academy of American Poets, Buzzfeed Reader, Teen Vogue, and PEN America. Her debut collection of poems, Build Yourself a Boat, is forthcoming from Haymarket Books in 2019.
Camonghne has received an M.A. and MFA from New York University and Bard College, and is a recipient of a number of awards, including the Harlem Children’s Zone Innovation Award, and was recently listed by the Black Youth Project as a “Black Girl from the Future You Should Know.”
A native New Yorker, she lives in Brooklyn with her pet fish Goldie.
