WASHINGTON — The Ms. Foundation for Women will join its grantees and thousands of activists on the steps of the United States Supreme Court on Wednesday at a rally organized by the Center for Reproductive Rights. The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the case of Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt (formerly v. Cole). This case is currently the most significant legal challenge to reproductive health access in more than two decades and will consider a Texas law that places medically unnecessary restrictions on women’s health centers that provide abortions.
Date: Wednesday, March 2, 2016
Time: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Location: United States Supreme Court
Ms. Foundation grantee partners organizing activists to rally outside the court include the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH), Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity (URGE), SisterReach, the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) and SisterSong, among others.
The Ms. Foundation’s women’s health program supports grassroots organizations that are working to ensure women’s access to the full range of reproductive health services. This includes supporting the right to choose if and when to parent, protecting women’s reproductive rights — including abortion, access to contraception and health care, particularly in low-income communities and communities of color — and promoting policies and a culture shift that enable all to parent with dignity.
For over 40 years, the Ms. Foundation for Women has secured women’s rights and freedoms with a special commitment to building the power of low-income, immigrant and women of color. The foundation invests funds, time, expertise and training in organizations nationwide.
