NEW YORK — On January 19, 2016, the Ms. Foundation for Women will celebrate “20 and Funny,” its 20th Comedy Night at Carolines on Broadway in New York City. The event, started in 1989, is a fundraiser to benefit the Foundation’s work for economic justice, women’s health and safety. This year, the event will be hosted by comedian, actor and musician Lea DeLaria and will feature five comics, including award-winning writer and producer Judy Gold along with Sara Armour, Aparna Nancherla, Yamaneika Saunders and Liza Treyger.
“The Ms. Foundation’s comedy night at Carolines on Broadway has brought together some of the most talented comedians in order to help support the fight for the rights and opportunities of women and their communities,” says Carolines owner Caroline Hirsch. “As a committed advocate for equality, I am truly honored to continue to support the imperative work of the Ms. Foundation and its grantees as they advance the rights of ALL genders.”
The Comedy Night was created by Ms. Foundation founding mother Gloria Steinem and Hirsch, a former Ms. Foundation board member.
In the past, the event has featured some of America’s most talented comedians, including Susie Essman, Judy Reyes, Brett Butler, Rosie O’Donnell, Joy Behar, Margaret Cho, Judy Gold, Kathy Najimy, Kate Clinton, Lizz Winstead, Caroline Rhea and many more.
