Ms. Foundation at NetRoots Conference, July 2015
On July 16-19 the Ms. Foundation for Women traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, where we spent three exciting days in the company of other progressive leaders, activists and thinkers at the annual NetRoots Nation conference. The Ms. Foundation, led by president and CEO Teresa C. Younger, sponsored a pre-conference gathering that gave our attending grantee partners the chance to meet our staff – and to meet each other
This year’s conference focused on discussions of the current immigration system in the U.S., highlighting the impact of broken laws on individuals and families across the country, from the Arizona border and beyond. The conference also highlighted the strained – and even broken – relationships between law enforcement and communities of color, with representatives from Ferguson in Missouri on hand to talk about the changes in the year since Michael Brown was killed.
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) was the NetRoots Nation 2015’s keynote speaker; and our president and CEO spoke during the Ignite Closing Plenary, discussing the future of feminism and the role of the Ms. Foundation in the movement. Watch Ms. Younger at the conference below.
We thank NetRoots Nation for its support of forward thinking advocates and our grantee partners who could join us at this year’s conference!
