Ms. Foundation on the Confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett
NEW YORK (October 26, 2020) – Ms. Foundation for Women President and CEO Teresa C. Younger released the following video statement on the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett.
[I’m] not surprised but disappointed [and very] exhausted—2020 just keeps coming at us time and time again. And you would expect, at some point, grown-ups to come to the table.
At a time when we should actually be mourning the life of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, we are actually quickly pivoted into a political football game between the President and the Republicans in the Senate.
At a time when we actually should be worrying about: the millions of people who have been diagnosed with coronavirus, the hundreds of thousands of people who have died from coronavirus, or the millions of people that are out of work, the many, many concerns about an election and the building of our democracy, the Senate chose to pivot into a false reality about what [was urgent].
This is not a time for us to be critiquing whether Amy Coney Barrett is the right candidate or not. She should have never been up for the conversation and they should have been doing their jobs.
