Ms. Foundation for Women Statement on Gorsuch Confirmation

NEW YORK, NY – Ms. Foundation for Women President and CEO Teresa C. Younger released the following statement in response to the Senate voting to confirm Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court:

“The role of the judiciary in protecting women’s rights cannot be overstated and confirming Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court raises the stakes even higher. Judge Gorsuch’s rulings have repeatedly harmed women, particularly low-income women and women of color.

From his ruling allowing employers to control access to contraception, to blaming a sexual harassment victim for her firing, to his comments condoning pregnancy discrimination, Gorsuch has shown us time and time again that he is not committed to protecting the rights that enable all women to live with dignity and free from harm.

As we look to the battles ahead, the Ms. Foundation for Women stands ready to fight for the economic security, health, and safety of all women.”

Last month, the Ms. Foundation submitted a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee opposing Judge Gorsuch nomination; read the full letter here:
