Ms. Foundation for Women statement on Donald Trump’s election as President of the United States

NEW YORK, NY – Ms. Foundation for Women President and CEO Teresa C. Younger made the following statement regarding Donald Trump’s election as President of the United States:

“The Ms. Foundation for Women is deeply concerned that a candidate who supports policies so destructive to millions has been elected President. Donald Trump’s platform not only ignores the fundamental needs of so many Americans, it threatens to directly undermine the wellbeing of our communities and the livelihood of our most vulnerable citizens.

The Ms. Foundation calls on President-Elect Trump to reassess the positions he has advocated for. From reproductive healthcare to economic justice, we urge the President to examine how his proposals will harm vital populations including women, communities of color, immigrants, and LGBTQ individuals.

Regardless of President-Elect Trump’s actions, the Ms. Foundation remains committed to supporting those on the ground in the fight for progress. We must do more to address these obstacles that target millions based gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, and socioeconomic status.

Now, more than ever, it is vital for all Americans to stand together in the fight for equality and justice.”

For more than 40 years, the Ms. Foundation for Women has secured women’s rights and freedoms with a special commitment to building the power of low-income, immigrant and women of color. The foundation invests funds, time, expertise and training in trailblazing organizations nationwide.
