DESCRIPTION

The Ms. Foundation is seeking a dynamic and innovative, mission-driven Designer & Brand Coordinator who will be instrumental in advancing the Foundation’s programmatic and fundraising work using their creativity and talent for design. This newly created role works across all of the Foundation’s channels and digital presence (including social media, email, and website) as well as fundraising events, campaigns, and more.

As a key member of the Communications team, you will harness the many opportunities in which the Ms. Foundation can continue to communicate our impact, advocate for gender and racial equity, and amplify grantee partners with a significant focus on graphic design and brand management. The Designer & Brand Coordinator reports to the Director of Communications and is based out of the Foundation’s Brooklyn office.

Specific Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but not limited, to:

Creative and Brand Management

  • Design and produce organizational visual assets (graphics, video, multimedia) that support narrative, programmatic, and development strategies.
  • Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity determining ideal usage of color, text, font style, imagery, and layout.
  • Serve as point of contact for collaboration with external partners and contractors to produce original content and amplify existing material that advances the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize across internal teams and/or partners on a wide range of materials which include web pages, presentations, infographics, online tools, signage, internal communications, newsletters, marketing collateral, holiday cards, and publications
  • Manage logo and brand guidelines; coordinate internal and external requests.
  • Manage the review process to ensure quality control, brand compliance and consistency across all mediums.
  • Advise on best practices, accessibility, and optimization throughout design projects and other special projects as needed.

Asset Management

  • Help manage development and implementation of content management system (CMS) process.
  • Stay up-to-date on best CMS practices and make recommendations.
  • Organize and inventory photo and video assets.
  • Update and maintain internal database of freelancers/consultants for design, photography, video, and print/production.

Event Support

  • Serve as a key production member and provide design guidance for the organization’s marquee events such as Women of Vision Awards or Comedy Night.
  • Liaise with event leads and vendors to advance production of external event design elements (graphics, printed collateral, digital screen presentations, etc.).
  • Create collateral and graphics for small events and webinars.
  • Work closely with Director of Communications and leadership to manage approvals and provide brand guidance and oversight.
  • Manage external photographers and videographers.

Digital Support

  • Assist in making regular updates to website and support the development of web content.
  • Support the production of new digital toolkits, blogs, and info sheets.
  • Co-create email assets with the Communications Coordinator and other team members to promote programs and events.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Communications.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The right candidate is a strategic thinker and problem solver with strong attention to detail who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or related field
  • 2-4 years of experience as a graphic or interactive/digital designer/digital marketing professional
  • Highly creative and excellent graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
    Well-versed in graphic design tools – Adobe Creative Suite, Lightroom, InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, or similar
  • Foundation in core design principles (typography, color, layout, etc.)
    Ability to manage timelines/deadlines and shifting priorities with an understanding of creative workflows
  • A keen eye for visual storytelling along with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven project management skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Skills and experience with photography and video
  • Flexibility to occasionally work evening events and travel as needed
  • Familiarity with WordPress, HTML code, and CSS a plus
  • Experience with digital asset management platforms (such as Widen Collective) a plus

COMPENSATION

62k-68k annually
