Irene Schneeweis, Senior Manager, Strategic Communications
Irene Schneeweis manages the Ms. Foundation for Women's strategic communications program, which delivers tailored capacity-building to our grantees, invests in strategic communications research and planning for the Ms. Foundation, and supports the alignment of grantee and Ms. Foundation communications strategies and campaigns.
Irene has worked to promote women's social justice in the US and internationally for over a decade. Before joining the Ms. Foundation in 2007, Irene worked for MADRE, where she conducted research, public education, and communications outreach on US foreign policy and international women's rights in Latin America, the Middle East and Africa; managed a global volunteer program; and designed and led educational delegations to Central America, Cuba, Mexico, Peru and Kenya.
Prior to MADRE, she conducted research on Algerian human rights and genocide in Gujarat, India while working at the CUNY Law School's International Women's Human Rights Clinic. In 2002, she received an interdisciplinary master's degree from New York University, where she studied art and politics in Latin America, specifically the role of dance in social movements in Guatemala. Irene has also worked as an affordable housing advocate in Washington, DC, and has an extensive background in arts education and dance performance.
