Texas Attacks on Women’s Rights Obscure Outrageous Restrictions Sweeping States

Statement of Ms. Foundation President and CEO Anika Rahman

“While the attacks on women’s rights in Texas have rightfully generated widespread outrage, legislation restricting reproductive health care in myriad other states, like North Carolina and Wisconsin, continues to advance less publicly.

“Lost in the battle are the voices of the women most impacted by restrictions to their rights – low-income and uninsured women, particularly women of color and immigrant women, who lack the resources to overcome local and state barriers.

“Access to reproductive health care services should not be dependent on the political whim of a woman’s particular state. All women deserve equal access to basic health care, including the full spectrum of reproductive health care services.”
