Statement by Ms. Foundation for Women President and CEO Anika Rahman
on Paid Sick Leave Deal in New York City

“The Ms. Foundation for Women applauds the paid sick leave compromise reached by New York City leaders.

“Four out of five low-wage workers, the majority of whom are women, currently lack paid sick leave. Mandated paid sick leave will provide working women in New York City with the job security they need in case of illness, without the threat of economic insecurity from lost wages.

“New York City has an incredible opportunity to set an example for the nation in the implementation of fair business practices.”

The Ms. Foundation for Women fights to eliminate barriers for every woman in the U.S. For40 years, we have worked tirelessly to secure women’s rights and freedoms with a special commitment to building the power of low-income, immigrant and women of color.
