Ashley Blanchard is a consultant in philanthropy. She has been involved in strategic planning projects for funders including the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the William Penn Foundation, the John R. Oishei Foundation, the Benton Foundation, the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo and the Erie Community Foundation. She has conducted governance assessment and planning for clients including the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and the Institute for Advanced Study. She has also worked with nonprofit clients, including strategic planning for the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy and Boys and Girls Harbor.
Blanchard is a graduate of the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley, where she completed her Masters in Public Policy. She concentrated her studies on social welfare policy and nonprofit management. As part of her graduate coursework, Blanchard authored a report on the evaluation of public policy grantmaking for Northern California Grantmakers. Prior to her graduate work, Blanchard developed marketing strategies for the advertising firm of Goodby, Silverstein and Partners. Blanchard received her B.A. with Honors in Anthropology and Latin American Studies from Stanford University.
In addition to her role at Ms. Foundation, Blanchard co-chairs the Next Generation Advisory Task Force at the Council on Foundations. She is President of the Board of the Hill-Snowdon Foundation, which supports social justice efforts throughout the U.S. Through programs in Youth Organizing and Economic Justice, the foundation seeks to create a fair and just society by helping low-income families and communities develop the capacity and leadership skills necessary to influence the decisions that shape their lives.
